Modern English Academy is an English medium co-educational school with higher secondary classes. The School was founded to fulfil the need for a secondary school for the children who completed their primary education in Modern School, Barrackpore.

The School was started in April 1998 by the Barrackpore Park Road Christian Education Society – a society registered under the W.B. Societies’ Act.

Mrs. Enid Isaac, an educationist with over 50 years experience was the founder-President. Admission to the school is open to all depending on the availability of seats. However, children who pass Class IV with a report of good conduct from Modern School are automatically accepted in Class V here.

The school aims to maintain high standards of academic performance in a disciplined environment. There are well-equipped science laboratories, facilities for computer studies and a large library. A large playground and garden make the general atmosphere conducive for studies. Debate, Elocution, Quiz, Drama, Dance, Yoga, Aerobics, Chess, Badminton, Excursions, etc. are some of the co-curricular activities organized from time to time.

The school is affiliated to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. The 1st batch sat for ICSE (Class X) in March 2004. The 1st batch sat for ISC (Class XII) in March 2011.
