Chakdaha College, one of the oldest and most reputed Higher Education institutions, affiliated to the University of Kalyani, Nadia, was established as a Pre-University college in 1972 (continued till 1977), under the pioneering initiative of the-then Deputy Speaker of West Bengal Assembly, Hon'ble Haridas Mitra and inaugurated by the-then Chief Minister of West Bengal, Hon'ble Siddhartha Shankar Roy in 1975, the College started its journey in its new campus, i.e., the present one, with 5/6 avowed faculties, mostly temporary, with the exception of the permanent Principal, only 1 permanent office-staff, 98 pupils and above all, with the blessing of the localites as the desire for such a centre of academics had been nursed for decades. Chakdaha College is a trend-setter in imparting quality-education to the target-learners, creating a student-friendly atmosphere and ensuring a unique co-ordination among Principal, Teaching and Non-teaching members and students. Students' performance in University examinations, their participation in athletic and cultural activities in different levels is consistent and commendable. Many distinguished alumni have added feathers to the profile of the college. Of late a multidisciplinary, International Journal with e-ISSN number has been published. I wish from the inner crevices of my heart, the college flourishes, prospers and retains its name and fame for years to come.
