Dr. B. C Majhi, an eminent physician and Ex-President of Indian Medical Association, Bankura district, not only established and runs at Kesra a charitable dispensary, dedicated to the cdause of health for the poor, for long thirty two years but dreamt of establishing in that backward area a model English Medium School after Shantiniketan to cater quality education, in tune with the go of the day, to meet the growing needs of the new generation. With this object in view and to materialise his dream he laid the foundation of an English Medium School at the West Point of Bankuta town, in the beginning of this century, known as West Point School.
The aim of any school is to provide the best possible education to its students. This is the aim of West Point School, Bankura, also, Our primary aim is to develop in the students, qualities integrity, honesty, trust, tolerance and compassion, to promote a spirit of enquiry, to foster a scientific temper within the bonds of humanism: to help the students & become of meaningful part of the environment and to see that courage and industry have their due reward. The pursuit of excellence encouraged at W.P.S. rests on the positive belief that every man has it in him to produce work whose quality can be described as first class.
Towards this end, the school, endeavors to provide a large and dedicated teaching staff with a wide range of skills and interests., a varied and wide choice of activities academic, aesthetic, athletic and environment enriched with the excitement of discovery, challenge and competitiveness and a discipline based on the belief that responsibility comes before freedom.
For admission, the intending candidate will have to apply in the prescribed from available along with prospects on payment of Rupees 300/- from the school office on any day (Except on Sundays and Holidays) during working hours of the school.
Duly filled-in prescribed application from along with two copies of passport size photograph of the candidate must reach the Principal on or before the new session starts. The minimum age for admission to Nursery LKG and UKG classes must be above 2 , 3 , years and above 4 years and so on for higher classes on the 31st March of the respective year of admission. Age proof certificate of birth of the candidate must be submitted along with the application. Admission up to Class VIII (i.e. Class VIII and below) shall be regulated by the rules, regulation, order of the State/U.T. Governments. Admission to class IX in a school shall be open only to such a students who has passed class VIII examination from an institutions affiliated to this Board or to any recognised Board or is recognised by the Education Department of the Government of the State /UTA person who has been studying in an institution, which is not recognised by this board or by any other recognised Board of Secondary Education or by the State /UT, shall not be admitted to any class of the basis of certificate (S) of such unrecognised intuition attended by him, Candidates registered for admission from UKG Std. To Std.IX Std. Are admitted on the basis of success in a Test (written or Oral), the date of which is to be intimated to the parent / guardian at the time of registration and/ or will be announced on the Notice Board of the school and the admission process begins.
Admission to Std.XI shall be opened only to such students who has:
1. Obtained minimum Grade D in at least five subjects in external examination ( excluding the 6th additional subject as per scheme of studies.)
2. Has passed and equivalent examination conducted by any other recognised Board of Secondary Education.
