Vidyasagar vidyapith (Girls’) is a renowned school in Midnapore town. It began its journey on 20^th April, 1959 with 30 students and 3 teachers in a classroom of Vidyasagar Vidyapith School for Boys’. Being inspired by the ideology of Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, Late Jagadish Chandra Das, the great educationist and social reformer of Midnapore Town, established this school with an object to spread education among the girls and to make them self-sufficient. It was upgraded from Junior High to High School in the year 1961 and got its approval as a Higher Secondary School in the session 1990-1991.

With the endless efforts and diligence of Late Shree Jagadish Chandra Das, the founder secretary of the school, it is now a three storeyed building with a big hall, five well-decorated laboratories and a computer room with all modern facilities. The school is now running with about 1400 students, 37 teachers, 1 librarian, 3 clerks and 4 Group – D staff. The central Mid-Day-Meal scheme is conducted here every day with great precision. There is a ‘Poof-Fund’ for the poor and distressed students with voluntary contributions of the teachers. There is also an ‘Eco-club’ to make the students conscious of their environment. Every year 100% students pass successfully in both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Examinations. Moreover, they show their excellence in different talent search examinations and many other cultural and sports competitions by securing prizes in both State and National Levels.

The school is now running smoothly with the active co-operation of all the staff (Teaching and Non – Teaching), students and parents with a motto to impart man making education and to ensure all round development of the budding students.
