Tamluk Hamilton High School which was established by an English salt agent Charles Hammilton on 7th May, 1852 to kindle light of education in the historic town of Tamluk has been continuing her glorious voyage since her birth even before the birth of Calcutta University, producing an enormous list of eminent personalities of different fields. She has produced an ex-Chief Minister of West Bengal Ajoy Mukherjee, a great historian Dr. Amalesh Tripathy, great freedom fighter Sushil Dhara, so many District magistrates, sub divisional officers, many high posted bureaucrats, doctors, engineers, scientists, professors, teachers, officers, great players, artists, social reformers, workers and freedom fighters. The renowned Headmaster of this school Kalobaran Chatterjee got the award of National Teacher from Sarbapalli Radhakrishnan’s hand. Tamluk Hamilton High School is at the heart of Tamluk town and in front of the famous Temple of Goddess Bargabhima. She has already established her name and fame all over the state and India as well. Many toppers in the state level academic result she has produced great freedom fighter Kshudiran Bose, the first martyr of Bengal. Many distinguished persons visited this school like Iswarchandra Vidyasagar. He attested his signature in the school register when he came to visit this school as an Education Inspector. He was surprised to inspect this school and highly acclaimed it for its excellence in many respects. Besides, he donated his used stick and shawl in this school museum which are preserved here along with many other collections. Hamilton school museum deserves a place of honor in its genre of which all the Hamiltonians boast. When vocational education started only in seven schools in West Bengal Hamilton School was one of them. Many position holders in the state came out. The civil, Electrical work shops of this school are praiseworthy. When very few schools were selected as centre of Computer Education all over West Bengal, Tamluk Hamilton High School was one of them. There are forty computers to give Computer Education to more than one thousand five hundred students of this school. The N.C.C., N.S.S. units, Eco Club, Consumer Forum of this school are very active and they snatch many prizes in the state level competitions. The entire school building is electrified since1991 with fans and lights. About 800 students take mid-day meals regularly. All the people related to this school are always active to keep up the prestige of this school and they strive how to develop this school more and more.
