Print Media and Electronic Media have opened a new channel of opportunity of challenging and interesting career for the enthusiastic youths. With the continuous improvement of Computer , electronic & Telecommunication and digital world there are increasing by leaps and bounds demand of qualified and ready-to-serve Journalists/Reporters etc in this sector. Any Media House if they get ready-made Reporters/Journalists , they will give immense preference than a student of Bookish knowledge about journalism Institute of Management &  Journalism  has started its walking in the year 2000 with a group of professional Journalists who thought that mere bookish knowledge might not be achieved professional aptitude and approach for being a Reporter/Journalist. IJM since its beginning has been giving importance on practical-oriented classes so that immediately passing out the student can face any challenging interview for reporter/Journalists etc.
Our every class is designed with practicality. There are teachers who are grooming our students for smarter approach from shaky state of affairs. There are taking place debate, Group Discussion , Ex-tempo speech , anchoring, Spot reporting in the class room .

Moreover , importance is also given for improving in General Knowledge and Current Affairs so that student can sit for any competitive examination other than Journalist. IJM has its own Newspaper Sambad Today and News Web Portal (www.sambadtoday.in) student’s reports ,news , interview are published and students are being got chance from the day one of admission.

During course period , students are issued in –house ‘PRESS CARD” for their identification as Trainee Reporter and are sent for taking interview of various celebrities, Political leaders, Film Star and also are sent to PRESS CLUB and Press Conference in order to get practical knowledge from there and there news are published in the in The News paper. In Print Media –Classes are mainly taken by Senior and reputed Journalists of reputed and leading Newspapers. Classes are designed in such a way that student can get interest to learn and are covered with Political, Sports, Medical, Entertainment topics.

In electronic Media, classes mostly are taken by reputed Reporters/Journalists/News Readers of reputed House along with VIDEO/Audio facility in class . Many of students of IJM are well placed in reputed House of electronic and printing Media. Moreover , there are consultants who off and on take classes to understand and assess students’ capability /incapability and how to groom them in moderate way of learning .

IJM experiences that many students after inquiry do not take admission due to distance and communication problem. Having given a thought about themselves, IJM has taken initiative to open more of its branches far away from Kolkata City in order to facilitate those students . IJM, considering the pecuniary status of the maximum students , FEES/ charges has kept within their reach and capability.
