Hello Everyone!

We are once again at the transition time. The Farewell mood is in the air as the exams come to a close for the outgoing students. There are those who are looking out eagerly to join the ranks. Welcome! Yes, life is a series a coming and going. College is here to welcome you and prepare you for what lies ahead. I am sure those taking leave are the best advertisement for what Salesian College can offer to those awaiting to enter.

A warm welcome to all those joining in the Management, as Faculty, as Support Staff and as Students! Remember you enter a space that has a unique history and legacy built upon the commitment and convictions of a generation and more. We are all here for you to be the best you can be.

We are growing and our new construction in the Siliguri campus are about to take off. I would like to thank everyone from the local administration of the corporation, the architects, the engineers and the fathers in college administration for making this happen. It was indeed a long road and it's just a matter of months before the new students will see their new state of the art campus taking shape before their very eyes.

One of the campus scenes that caught my attention in more than one campuses of Universities in other parts of the world, during my Sabbatical is the feature of "performance as the criterion of assessment". Of course exam performance is there for the students to show how well they have done. Then there are the arts like Music, Dance, Drama, Gymnastics, Sports, where the performance is the indicator of assessment of how good you have made it. For the literature department, the college magazine they collectively work to get done for the year, could be seen as one area where we could measure our last year in terms of performance besides the other laurels individuals have achieved.

Performance is an indicator of the success level you have attained. The entry into the college is itself an indicator of your past performance, and while in the college, from day one, you are invited to remember that you are called upon to perform: not as a matter of public display, nor even as a compulsion, but as a creative expression of your uniqueness. Let the Year ahead be one where we collectively create opportunities for accomplishments that are truly gauged on the magnitude and precision, the dexterity and scope of the performance that brings alive the ideal of environment for Education - Salesian College Sonada-Siliguri.
