Darjeeling Tea Research and Management Association (DTRMA) was established in the year 1994 at Shivmandir, 7 Km away from Siliguri, W.B., and is dedicated to Tea Industry to promote excellence. The Association is registered under West Bengal Societies Registration Act, XXVI of 1961, No.S/79766 of 1995-96. The prime objective of DTRMA is to ease the technomanagement complexities of Tea Industry through Training, Consultancy and Research.

To transform the objectives, an institute NITM was established in the same year under the aegis of Darjeeling Tea Research and Management Association to generate a pool of trained manpower who could effectively run a Tea Industry.

The Institute has so far organised 35 Training/Management Development Programmes for the Tea Industry. With a sound placement record for the students of Post Graduate Diploma in Tea (PGDT), the institute emerged as leading employment generating institute.
