Nikhil Banga Sikshan Mahavidyalaya started its journey from 22.09.1969 which a unique example of 'Self help' materialized by the Bankura district unit of All Bengal Teachers' Association (A.B.T.A). The Institution earned its affiliation from The University and recognized by UGC by the UGC u/s 2(f) from its inception vide letter no. 13-2/71(CD) dated 31.03.1971 and also considered eligible to receive central assistance through UGC u/s 12(B). At the beginning the Institution was eligible to run only B. Ed. course (formerly B.T.) but from academic session 1978-79 the University of Burdwan allowed the Institution to run B.P.Ed course. It has also earned the NCTE Recognition for both B. Ed. and B. P. Ed with the intake of one basic unit each.  In the year 2016 the Institution also earned NAAC accreditation  with Grade B. The college has earned for itself the reputation of being a premier institution for Teacher Education in the State of West Bengal since inception. Teacher has countless responsibilities to their student's physical, psychological, emotional, development. Thus the motto of this Institution is to empower the student teachers with the professional and social competencies to compete with the challenging world. The college always tries to solve the problem differently by going beyond the prescribed syllabus of Burdwan University, WB. The entire course is dedicated to elevating the quality of Teacher Education and Physical Education in the State. Through its various activities, the College aspires to create an environment to assist the student teachers to realise their full potential to enable them to play their roles effectively in the society in which they live in.
