Meteli Library was established on 28th May, 1953. The library was started in an old school building of Meteli with 500 books and 115 members. Mr. Rabindranath Sikder, member of Assembly organized the opening ceremony of the library. At that time the library & the club were established on 30 decimal land near the school. The land was bought with the help of local people and the managing committee of The Meteli High School. On 28th February, 1957 the Government had undertaken the library as a rural library. On 1st March,1987 the library was upgraded as a town library. Current two storied building was constructed with the help of the local counselor’s fund. It has now more than 13,320 books and 658 members.
