The Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kankinara has completed 25 years. The Vidyalaya is run by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body formed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. It came into being in 1982, starting its day from the Military Barrack and a makeshift building. Over the years the school has progressed and now stands with all its pride and beauty in the lush of green sprawling field in a beautiful three storied building. The beautiful garden and vast play ground supplements to its aesthetic beauty.

The Vidyalaya caters to only humanities stream at the + 2 level. The faculties are English, Hindi, History, Geography, and Economics headed by a post Graduate Teachers in each faculty. The Vidyalaya has adopted the Computer Aided Teaching ( CAT ).The office work is fully automated. It is equipped with Xerox & Fax facilities. The Vidyalaya has EPBAX with extension. The Vidyalaya tries to take care of the safety of the children. It is fitted with Aqua guards & Water Cooler for drinking water, fire extinguishers for fire safety. The Vidyalaya has one Computers Laboratory with 28 computers. The Computers Awareness covers the classes from III to XII. There is free accessibility of Internet for the students & teachers. The school has its own website, i .e, www .kv kankinara . org. The Junior Science Laboratory is meant for the students up to class X. The laboratory is well equipped with Physics, Chemistry & Biological equipments, models and charts. The Library of the Vidyalaya has a very good collection of books, periodicals, encyclopedia, and other reference books. It has a collection of about 5000books both in Hindi and English. There is a free access to the student & teachers regularly to the library. Besides that the books and periodicals are issued to the student & teachers. Five newspapers, 20 periodicals (8 educational magazines, 12 other magazines ) arrive regularly . The school has a Mathematical Laboratory for practical purpose in Mathematics. Teaching Aids Department provides sufficient teaching aids for the development of teaching learning processes. It has hundreds of maps, globes, charts and models .The other department are Games & Sports , SUPW , Music ,Drawing & Craft, Examination .
