District library Purulia formerly known as state Library Manbhum under the Govt of Bihar. Finally, in October 1956, Manbhum District was partitioned between Bihar and West Bengal, the Purulia Sub division (excluding Chas and Chandakiari P.S. to the north and Chandil, Ichagarh and Patamda P.S to the South) became of a district of West Bengal under the state Reorganization Act and the Bihar and West Bengal (Transfer of territories) Act 1956. In 1st November, 1956, Purulia became a district of West Bengal, thereafter the state Library Manbhum known as District Library, Purulia.
Working Days : Monday to Saturday,(2nd & 4th Saturday closed)
Working Hours : Winter:12 noon to 7 p.m. and Summer:1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
