The library was started before independence with the help of some local educated people and it was situated in a small room beside ‘Durga Mandap’ of Radhanagar Hattala near Garbeta Station. On 15th December,1980 it was categorized as a Village Library and then on 15th October, 1982 it was recognized as a Town Library. The library started with a small number of books but now it has more than 10000 books.
