The library was established by the ‘Bibhuti Bhusan Smriti-raksha Committee’, a local Bibhuti Bhusan Bandyopadhyay’s fan Association. The land was donated by the local people monetary assistance from the public and profit from cinema-show helped to build the library building construction. In the year of 1954, two local libraries namely ‘Sarat Chandra Granthagar’ and ‘Banimukti Pathagar’ were amalgamated with this library. The aims nad objectives of this library are the ideas and values of the library that great literature Bibhuti Bhusan Bandyapadhyay communicated and conveyed to local people. The first President of the Bibhuti Bhusan Memorial (Rural) Library was Dr. Indranarayan Sengupta and Secretary was Late Kalipada Chakraborty, Well-Known public figures. The first librarian was Sri Nirmal Biswas. Later the Library was Sponsored by Government of West Bengal in 1956 Inaugeration of Bibhuti Bhusan Smriti-Bhavan and adjacent ‘Bibhuti Mancha’ (open Stage) for extension of library Service was done on 14/03/1959 under Societies Registration Act, (xxi of 1860 AD). by the then West Bengal Development Commissioner Sri Hiranmoy Bandyopadhyay, I.C.S.
In 1964 First Managing Committee was elected and the first Secretary was Sri Smarajit Sarkar. In 28/02/1986 the library was upgraded to “Town Library”.
