The school was founded on 20 April 1912 (holy day of Akshaya Tritiya) with the name Brahmananda Balakashrama by Yogindranath Tagore with 2 students only. In 1934, the first primary school was formed in the Ashrama Campus. In 1952 it became a secondary school, and in 1954 it became a higher secondary. In 1976 the school received Government affiliation as a secondary school with the help of Ashrama Management Authority.
