The motto of our library is to promote reading habit among children and all section of people and to help young generations for self employment through career guidance unit. 

Belgharia Peary Mohan Memorial Town Library was established in the year 1904 and since then it has been serving as a centre for mental recreation for the Kamarhati Municipal area and other surrounding areas. From early 21st century it’s fulfilling local people’s intellectual needs by holding lectures, seminars and cultural activities. Presently this library has various sections viz free reading room section, lending section, reference section, text book section, carrier guidance section, children section and neo-literate section. 

This Library is working for more than 106 years. In 2004 this library observed its centenary celebration. Grant received from R.R.R.L.F. for that occasion. Donations was collected through workshops, seminars and cultural functions for the library. This library has so far fulfilled its ambition successfully for spreading reading habits through all strata of society.In 2007 and 2009, two projects were sanctioned  to us by CMU, Salt Lake City funded by DFID, namely “Tattha Kendra” and “Community Library”. Through these projects we established “Tattha Kendra” by which S.F. and Higher Secondary candidates are getting help during their admission for higher studies. We also run 10 non formal education centres in 10 wards of Kamarhati Municipality by which near about 300 learners were trained and neo-literate were admitted to Primary School by SSA through our Library.
